Hi, I am SuAnne, an undergraduate study student near Washington, D.C., where like anywhere else, teen health concerns are a major concern to many. Feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life. If you find that your often in this stage, and nothing can bring light to your day, you be experiencing depression. When one is depressed, they feel hopeless. Sometimes they may even feel like the world is against them.
Teenagers like everyone else, experience problems. I believe the only difference is sometimes teenagers have no one to talk to depending on the situation they are going through. This will cause them to be depressed. Symptoms of depression are sleepless nights, uncontrollable negative thoughts, always irritated, loss of appetite, and things become a challenge that once were easy for you. Common situations teenagers often face that cause depression are pregnancies, receiving a sexually transmitted disease, break-up, rape, and abuse. Although it takes a while to overcome, the first step is to recognize the problem.
